Circa 1969 – Viet Nam is all over the airwaves - but us, We’re jammin’ to The Stones, Three Dog Night - The Doors
and of course, Graham Nash. We’re still in High School not thinking about that all that antidisestblishmentantarianism
stuff or the worryin' about the flower children in Frisco. Instead, we’re doing what we love – jammin’ to the
music and cruisin’ down Cali's PCH in my VW Van with surfboards strapped on crankin’ some Grateful Dead and
watching the coastline for some serious waves to ride. The rest of the band is in school but we ditched to hit some good surf.
Wave reports say they’re gonna be at least 4 footers. We finally find the diamonds and spend the rest of the
day hittin’ some good surf.
That night the band is together. We got a gig goin’ on. Me, I got my Gibson strapped on – I’m shreddin’
out some great licks. My buddy Lloyd, he’s twisting out some Bass and Scott’s hittin’ some beats on the drums.
We’re sounding pretty good. I know it because the crowd wants more . . . . . .
Time flashes by and it’s years later. I finished my 4 years of college and time in the United States Army,
we still jam the tunes. Finally, 2009 rolls around and it’s feeling like the 60's again. Bring on the music, that thing
in our blood that’s always been there. Everybody and anybody who loves the tunes whether it’s classical to
that good vibe dance that rips through your soul energizing every fiber of your body knows it never goes away.
Then a family, kids and a love that never dies – the music - always been the music. It’s serious business.
Songfestexpress was borne of the music, just like back in the 60's. It's retro. It's in the blood. That burning desire to
let yourself be heard in a way nobody has ever done before. Sure there are other sites. They let you sell your tracks,
connect with iTunes and all that. But what do they do for you – The Artist? Nothing - Nada. You pay for everything and they
offer little in return - mostly nothin'. It's still all you do, no help, no promos, you're just a number. That’s where we
are different. Songfestexpress sets a new bar, turn the scale. Yeah, we’re not fancy, but simple, no bells, no whistles,
just plain music. That’s what Lloyd Brock and Michael Young said. Let’s keep it simple. Artists register. They upload tracks,
their best ones. Let’s advertise the bands. Hook up Facebook and Tweet everybody we can. Let’s do Press Releases and get
our Promoters to get the artists out there. Nobody does that for any artist. It’s all a bunch of hype and competition and
nobody will work for the artists like we do. Then we said let’s invite all the band’s Fans to register and vote for their
favorites. We can offer that golden egg, the pump, that thing every band needs - a real recording, distribution and promo deal.
It’s all about the music. Songfestexpress is about YOU, the artist and the FANS. I wish you all the best of luck.
